WHERE SHOULD YOU PLACE YOUR LIFT?

Lifts are part of our everyday lives, but most of us don’t think about one crucial aspect of the installation of a lift: where exactly should it go? No matter if you’re planning on getting a lift for your home or for your commercial property, you need to consider the placement, as that will influence how people will use it. Do you want it to provide access to all storeys of a building or just a few? In which room in your home do you want it installed?

It’s important that you ask yourself these questions, so that you can get the best solution for yourself or your business.

IN THE HOME

Due to the many benefits lifts bring, more and more people are opting to install one in their homes. They can add to the quality of life of people with physical limitations, as well as provide a practical way to move around the house – especially if that house is four-storeys high! You can even install a dumb waiter in your home, as you can move laundry or other bulky and heavy items that are not practical to carry up the stairs.

Once you’ve made the decision to install a home lift, you then need to choose the best place to put it. For practical reasons, lifts are best in a corner, as they won’t hinder any movement through the room and, if you need a specific type of lift, such as one connecting your garage to the rest of the house, you just need to ensure that it’s installed in an easy-to-access place with plenty of space to spare.

Aesthetically, you can pretty much choose any place you want! As long as it matches well with your interior design and doesn’t stand out like a sore thumb, you’re safe. You can opt for many different lift designs too, such as one with a glass enclosure that lets the architecture of the home shine through.

COMMERCIAL LIFTS

Lifts are also a vital part of commercial properties, from skyscrapers to shops or office spaces. Once again, before installing the lift, thinking about where it should go is a necessary step, since employees and visitors of that building need to be able to easily use it. For this reason, you might want to place it in a high traffic location. Aesthetically, the lift should also match the atmosphere of the building, so that it doesn’t look out of place!
