Lift Installation

AXESS 2 HAS PREVIOUSLY WORKED ON A VARIETY OF LIFT PROJECTS FOR TOWER HAMLETS, INCLUDING MANY SCHOOLS AND COUNCIL BUILDINGS. WE WERE APPROACHED ONCE MORE TO PROVIDE A LIFT SOLUTION FOR THEIR NEWLY REFURBISHED AND EXTENDED SMITHY STREET SCHOOL. THE CLIENT REQUIRED TWO LIFTS, ONE TO BE SITUATED IN THE EXISTING BUILDING AND A SECOND IN THE NEW SCHOOL EXTENSION. BOTH LIFTS WERE PRIMARILY TO BE USED FOR WHEELCHAIR ACCESS TO THE UPPER FLOOR. THE SCHOOL, NOW WITH ITS NEW CONTEMPORARY LOOK REQUIRED A DESIGN LED LIFT SOLUTION TO MATCH ITS MODERN SURROUNDINGS.

With certain site restrictions, like low headroom and the lack of space for a pit it was a challenging installation but we knew we had the perfect product: the robust Leonardo MRL traction lift.

To comply with DDA and Part M of the Building Regulations we specified the 1100mm x 1400mm lift car. We designed and built the lift car out of durable materials selected from our range and to maximize space in the cabin we installed the floor designation buttons into the car wall. A half wall mirror and a brushed stainless steel handrail were added to the back wall of the lift car to add to the modern light and airy feel. Fire rated automatic swing doors were installed on the landings complete with glass vision panels.

All the car lighting was to be LED down lighters to minimize the power consumption. The lift runs at a maximum of 5 amps, needing only a simple domestic supply. We also offered an emergency auto dial system from the lift to our control centre giving the users full piece of mind whilst using the lifts.

We opted for our electric traction drive system, for the following reasons,

• Very low power consumption.
• Full UPS battery back up system for easy safe lowering if the power fails fitted as standard.
• The lift is almost silent, keeping the noise to a minimum as the lifts are installed in private houses.
• Totally clean install no need for any hydraulic oils.
