SEASON’S GREETINGS: BRINGING FESTIVE INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS INTO YOUR HOME

Here at Axess2, we’re officially counting down to the big day; Christmas!

We’re surely not the only ones who are excited for feasting on turkey, stuffing and – maybe for some of you – Brussel sprouts, the opening of presents, and spending time with friends and family.

But nestled among the obvious delights of the festive period, there is one subtle factor that is also a reason to love this season; the festive designs and décor!

When you have a home lift in your home, you can not only have a practical and efficient space, but you have an extra place to position tinsel and all other related festive decorations.

Axess2 have some festive interior design trends which you can bring into your home interiors and your home lift, which is sure to bring the festive spirit!

FESTIVE LIGHTING

“YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH FAIRY LIGHTS. I FILL VASES AND FIREPLACES WITH THEM. LIGHTING IS KEY TO DESIGN, ESPECIALLY AT CHRISTMAS,” CATHERINE DAVIES – INTERIOR BLOGGER

There is nothing more comforting at Christmas than low or dimmed lighting, and even more so with delicate fairy lights. You can hang them, make shapes with them, put them on your tree, and even put them inside transparent ornaments to create a truly festive vibe.

For those of you with a home lift, you can even hang them in there!

Here’s some lighting inspiration for you…

CHRISTMAS DINING READY

“KEEP IT SIMPLE THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE, AND USE AS MUCH FRESH FOLIAGE AS YOU CAN AFFORD. THE CHRISTMAS TABLE IS THEN YOUR LICENSE TO GO FOR IT AND RAMP UP THE GLAMOUR,” ZOE BREWER – INTERIOR STYLIST

If you’re anything like us at Christmas, you will most likely spend a lot of your time around the dining table. Therefore, the way you decorate your table can become the perfect balance between practicality and chic!

In the past few years metallic such as copper has been all the festive range and the Christmas tree saw a flurry of luxe materials as such. This year, everything from your dining table to your tree is becoming Scandi-style, with a focus on simple styling.

Keep it straightforward with slight monochromes, natural materials and quality rather than quantity.  Here are some table inspiration…

THE FINISHING TOUCHES

“TO CREATE A PRETTY POMANDER, STUD AN ORANGE WITH CLOVES AND TIE A FESTIVE RIBBON ROUND SO YOU CAN HANG IT,” KATE WATSON-SMYTH – INTERIOR BLOGGER

From baubles to tinsel and fairy lights, it’s the little touches which make the final effect so superb. With so many trends coming and going, even at Christmas time, it’s always difficult to not go with it. This year, why not try it yourself and make your own wreath or your own DIY glitter ornaments?

Motifs can be a great way to create a constant theme throughout. Maybe a stag, candy canes, stars, or maybe think out of the box such as having butterflies on your tree rather than baubles? You could keep this theme reoccurring in every room and in your home lift, with a small hint of your motif.

Don’t forget about places such as the stair banister or, if you have a home lift, don’t forget about a Christmas touch in there.

Here are some small pieces of inspiration to get you thinking about your unique Christmas…

LIVING ROOM

“PLAN YOUR CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS TO COMPLEMENT YOUR ROOM SCHEME FOR A CO-ORDINATED AND SOPHISTICATED LOOK,” JEN STANBROOK – INTERIOR BLOGGER

Christmas is a time to spend with friends and family, and you may spend up a large chunk of your time in the living room, gathering round a board game or a festive film on the TV.

Trends or no trends, you want to make the space a hub of relaxation and comfort for everyone, so be sure to think about blankets and lighting. Tying everything together with a theme is a good idea to avoid a cluttered feel.

Don’t forget that clean and white styles are big this year and can help you create a winter wonderland look!
