HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT LIFT

When you make the decision to have a lift installed in your home, office or anywhere else, it can be difficult to decide which type of lift would suit your needs best. We offer a wide range of lifts for a number of applications, so we understand that you may be unsure of which model to opt for. Of course, we’re always here to help, so read on to find out more about how you can make sure you choose the right lift.

Who Will Use Your Lift?

First and foremost, you will need to ask yourself who will be using the lift. If the lift will be used by people with mobility issues, this may require a different lift than one required for people with no mobility issues.

You will also want to consider how many people are likely to use the lift. We have lifts with many different weight restrictions, from single passenger step lifts to 8-person passenger lifts and beyond.

Flexstep - Disabled Access Lift

Of course, you may require a lift that won’t carry any passengers, like a dumb waiter. In this case, your decision is likely to be a lot simpler!

Where Will Your Lift be Installed?

The location of your lift is a particularly important consideration. The physical location will have a huge impact of which lift will fit with your requirements. For example, you may need to install a passenger lift in a location where it is not possible to create a pit. In this instance, you would need to consider low pit lifts. These models may use a pit as low as 100mm or could even use a small access ramp so the lift is essentially pitless.

These lifts are often popular with shopping centres as they are so easy to install and seamlessly integrate with their surroundings.

What Look Should be Achieved?

Of course, your lift should be functional, efficient and safe, but it should also integrate with the design of its surroundings.

Contrary to what you may thing, you don’t have to compromise on design when you have a lift installed. In fact, we have installed a number of lifts that look fantastic and manage to integrate beautifully. A great example of this is the Traction 400 (Leonardo) we installed at Durham Cathedral.

In such a beautiful building, it was essential that the design did not seem out of place in with the Norman-style building. The glass lift we chose to install ensured that the integrity of the design was maintained.

We have a huge range of designs, allowing you to customise everything from the cabin finish to the lift doors.
