FOUR OF THE MOST ICONIC ELEVATOR SCENES FROM THE MOVIES

In our day-to-day life, we probably don’t think twice about getting in an elevator. Yes, we may find it awkward (we’ve told you why that is here) but it’s just another part of the office.
In your own home, you may consider looking for platform lifts so that your property is more accessible for disabled family members. Your reasoning could even be that you want a stylish feature that will ultimately increase the value of your house. But whatever your reasoning is, we bet it’s not the same as why movies have elevator scenes.

Hollywood has an entirely different perspective on elevators – they’re much more than getting between floors! Directors use them to build suspense, help a plot thicken, or as an interesting quirk in a movie. Here are some of our favourites.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

This one is our favourite elevator scene from all of the movies we’ve chosen. When you have a place as magical as Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, it’s only right that you have an impressive elevator to get you around all the places you want to go! With buttons galore, complete flexibility and transparent walls, it’s both stylish and useful – our favourite combination.
With Fudge Mountain and a range of other sights to see on the factory tour, the elevator was the most convenient route to take to make sure that they could fit everything into their trip!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

If you’ve felt awkward in an elevator before, we bet it’s never been quite on this scale. Just look at Jennifer Lawrence’s face – it says it all!
This clip definitely eases the mood of what is otherwise a rather morbid concept for a movie, so we can see why it was kept in the final cut.

Spiderman 2

This is another incredibly awkward elevator encounter that has us laughing at its ridiculousness! If we saw someone dressed in a Spiderman outfit, we definitely wouldn’t think it was the actual Peter Parker either.

500 Days of Summer

Zooey Deschanel definitely doesn’t have any qualms about talking to strangers in lifts, and we love her for it. This scene from the Indie cult classic is definitely loved across the world. It’s simple, leaves you feeling uplifted and makes you want to listen to the Smiths – perfect!
