Machinery Directive Lifts from Axess2
Here at Axess 2 Ltd we supply a range of lift products which fall into the low pit lifts or pitless lifts category under the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC and the new EN81-41.
Hydraulic and Traction-Driven
Hydraulic and traction-driven machinery directive lifts (2006/42/EC) are some of the most popular products that we sell, and they form the backbone of the lift provision service here at Axess2. We’ve supplied these types of lifts for nationally renowned establishments like the Manchester Trafford Centre, so you can be sure that they’re designed to excel even when under heavy use. Fundamentally, these lifts are rather like a ‘normal’ passenger lift, with highly efficient drive systems, but they have a number of subtle differences. Perhaps first and foremost, they do not necessarily need a pit or a lot of headroom, but in addition to this they can also be procured as completely self-contained variants. All of our lifts can be supplied with steel or aluminium structures for indoors or outdoors, in a multi range of bespoke finishes, including pinned glass panoramic structures.
What Do they Offer?
Machinery directive lifts are available with all of the options that are enjoyed by ‘pure’ passenger lifts. This means that they can be fitted with telescopic doors, where twin sets of doors are fitted to both the actual lift cabin and the external lift shaft, or even a swing door, which essentially turns the lift in question into a three-walled chamber. Fully enclosed lift cabins can also be fitted with ‘one touch controls’, so they undoubtedly bring functional usability.
However, the speed of machine directive lifts is limited by EN81 directives – all models can move at maximum speedup to 0.15 metres per second – this means that they can be installed without much excess room for pits or headroom. The sole limitation of this type of lift is a restriction to the aforementioned speed limit, but that is a small price to pay for such convenience. Used widely within retail, office, educational, home and public buildings, machinery directive lifts certainly have a niche all of their own, as they are extremely useful in light to medium use of several otherwise problematic building regulations and site conditions.
