A7 E Motion Installed at our premises
Monitored Installation of the new A7 E Motion Lift
Case Study
This case study is slightly different to our others, we thought we would study a platform lift installation rather than a completed project, and highlight some of the difficulties we have installing lifts, whilst maintaining the high levels of safety we require and how important it is to train our staff on a regular basis.
The Challenge
To install the brand new A7 E Motion platform lift in our premises whilst being monitored by our Health and Safety advisor from Woods Consulting, which also doubles as a training exercise for our engineers who will all do a report for there NVQ level 2 assessors.
The Solution
As with all of our platform lift installations, Axess 2 implement a NVQ training program for all employed engineers, which ensures that we install our equipment to the highest standard of workmanship and safety. Carrying out this lift installation in our own premises, ensured that we had the time, with a relaxed un-hurried atmosphere where we can discuss each part of the installation as to the best way to safely install each component and in what order. The purpose of having our HSE consultant present, is to highlight any dangers and carry out a risk assessment for our installation teams for future reference.
When we erected the newly designed steel structure, we used our own special scaffold tower that was made especially for Axess 2 by Crighton Manufacturing, all of our engineers are PASMA trained to erect the equipment, which alleviates the need for builders to supply any scaffold, this also highlights the Axess 2 commitment to training.
Once our guide rails are installed and the new low power geared motor is installed in the 200mm lift pit, the lift car can be installed and used for the rest of the installation as a moving platform, this make it much easier for installing the automatic sliding landing doors and completing the glazing to the scenic lift shaft. All of our engineering team were impressed with the quality of the lift components, from the Wittur, Selcom Puma door operator to the Techno-project lift control system, every component is CE marked and conforms to the new Machinery Directive 2006/42.EC that comes into force on the 29th December 2009 and BS 6440.
After a full load test with weights and electrical testing that will be compulsory to the new directive, our new A7 lift is ready for many years service.
The Outcome
Just look at the pictures they speak for themselves, a unique modern platform lift for our discerning customers in 2010.
